This guy is one of my favorite DJ’s and he makes some of the craziest beats I have ever heard.  The kind of music that just makes you want to dance.

Thomas Wesley Pentz (born November 10, 1978), better known by his stage name “Diplo,” is a Los Angeles-based American DJ, music producer, rapper, and songwriter.  He founded and manages his own record company “Mad Decent,” and is the co-founder and lead member of the non-profit organization “Heaps Decent.”  Among other jobs, he has worked as a school teacher in Philadelphia.  He is also the co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project, “Major Lazer.”  His 2013 EP “Revolution” debuted at #68 on the Billboard 200.

During his rise to notability, Diplo worked with British musician, M.I.A., an artist who is credited with helping expose him in his early career.  Later, he and fellow M.I.A. producer switch created a Jamaican dancehall project titled “Major Lazer.”  Since then, Diplo has worked on production and mixtape projects with many other notable pop artists, such as Beyonce, No Doubt, Justin Bieber, Usher, Snoop Lion and G-Dragon.  His stage name, “Diplo,” is short for “Diplodocus” which comes from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs.

Diplo has been around for a while and in all that time, he has never tried the same thing twice.  Every collaboration and album that he releases is full of experimental beats and rhythms that many similar DJ’s just can’t compete with.  Diplo also doesn’t like to stay confined to one genre of music.  He has dabbled in dubstep, trap, rap, trip-hop and even has produced just regular pop songs.  He often experiments by mixing these genres together in order to see what comes out.  There is no telling what kind of music will come from Diplo in the future but I can guarantee that it will have an insane beat and will make you want to dance.

Below are some of Diplo’s most popular songs and collaborations.  Enjoy.
