Gorgon City

Gorgon City, an electronic duo that consists of two North London-based producers, Kye “Foamo” Gibbon and Matt “RackNRuin” Robson-Scott began to collaborate and make hit songs in 2012.

The duo, best known for their 2013 single “Real” peaked at number 44 on the UK Singles Chart.  The group’s newest album release, “Sirens,” was released in 2014 and currently features two other very popular hits “Ready For Your Love” featuring MNEK and “Go All Night” featuring Jennifer Hudson.  “Ready For Your Love” reached number 4 on the UK Singles Chart.

The duos first collaboration session resulted in the creation of “The Crypt EP” featuring many unique artists such as Navigator, Rubi Dan, and Janai.  The EP was released on February 27, 2012.  A year later, on February 17, 2013, they collaborated with singer-songwriter Yasmin for the lead track of the “Real EP.”  Later that summer, with help from their collaboration with Clean Bandit, the duo released their next single “Intentions” and by the end of the year, the duo had toured the United States for the second time and helped support Rudimentary on their Australian dates.

With growing success and fame all around, the group continued to explore their sound.  The newest album “Sirens” has been their most successful album so far with three of their singles peaking within the UK Top 100 Charts.  This duo looks to just keep on pushing forward and I believe that they will soon become a household name within the electronic music scene.  Be sure to check out some of the duo’s biggest hits below and if you like what you hear, go out and pick up “Sirens” which is in stores now.

Jillian Banks, better known by her stage name BANKS, is a Los Angeles born and based singer-songwriter and musician.  She releases music through Harvest Records, Good Year Recordings and Iamsound Records.  Her music has reached an international audience and was also featured in a 2013 commercial for Victoria’s Secret.  She has toured internationally with The Weeknd and was also nominated for the sound of 2014 award by the BBC and an MTV Brand New Nominee in 2014.

Bank’s sound has been described as dark R&B and has been compared to The Weeknd but she cites Lauryn Hill and Fiona Apple as her biggest influences.  She says that music helps her release her emotions and for that reason she kept her songs private while she earned her bachelor’s in psychology.  Billboard also wrote that “her rhapsodic voice possesses a frail vulnerability and recalls singers like Feist and Erykah Badu.

Banks uses websites like Soundcloud to connect to people through her music.  Billboard called her a “magnetic writer with songs to obsess over” four months after she posted her first song to the site.  After reaching a large number of listeners, she began to work with the label Good Years.  Her first official single, “Before I Ever Met You,” was released in February 2013.  The song, which was on a private Soundcloud page ended up being played by BBC Radio 1 by DJ Zane Lowe.

Banks released her first EP through Iamsound Records/Good Years Record labels.  The EP titled “Fall Over” included the singles “Fall Over” and “Before I Ever Met You.”  Her second EP, “London,” was released through Harvest Records in 2013.  The EP received a 73 out of 100 on Metacritic.com

During a fall 2013 tour, Banks was the opening act for The Weeknd.  The tour was international with dates set in the United States and the United Kingdom.  After finishing her tour with The Weeknd, she announced her own tour which is scheduled to begin in March 2014.

Banks has been tipped by more than a dozen media outlets as an artist to watch in 2014 including Spin who said that her “London” EP was “an album you gotta hear in 2014.”  She was also named as one of Spotify’s Artists Under The Spotlight for 2014.  Shazam included her on their list of 2014 Acts To Watch and she was added to the Itunes list of New Artists for 2014.  With so many media outlets predicting Banks success, all we can do is watch and see how her new music turns out.  She may just be on the brink of super stardom.  Keep an eye out for her and check out some of her biggest hits below.
