Starset is a stylistically ambitious rock band that formed out of Columbus, Ohio.  The band describes their sound as “Cinematic Rock” and they have constructed a very elaborate mythos around themselves.  Through the use of their website and different social media posts, the band insists that they were recruited by a Dr. Ashton Wise of the Starset Society to spread awareness of scientific phenomena that has been ignored or hidden from public view.  Most notably, transmissions that are believed to be of human origin that have been broadcast from the constellation Ophiuchus.

The band first came together in July 2013, when their first digital single, “Carnivore,” a rock tune with a fusion of electronica and dramatic string arrangements, was released online.  Their second track, “My Demons,” was released in August 2013 and is currently receiving much radio airplay across the country.  The band released their debut album, “Transmissions,” in July 2014.

This band has a huge flair for the dramatic and have spent a great deal of time perfecting their mythos around the group.  With an obvious love for rock music and science fiction, the group has effortlessly blended the two together to create a stylistic and unique approach to the rock sound many other bands attempt and fail at miserably.  Even going as far as to wear specialized space suits while performing on stage, Starset is a band not to be missed or ignored.  Check out the band’s debut album, “Transmissions,” which is out now and check out some of their biggest hits below.
