The Dreaming is an American rock band that was founded in the Hollywood area in 2002 by Johnny Haro and Christopher Hall, the former lead singer of the band “Stabbing Westward.”

The band, which is similar in tone to “Stabbing Westward,” but given a heavier dose of electro-metal, began almost immediately after the former band’s demise.  Hall and Haro began working on tracks for the group and by 2003 released a live debut album and shortly after, an eponymous debut EP.  A second EP, “The Bonus Tracks, followed in 2005.  In 2006, the EP, “Dreamo,” was released which featured Hall and Jinxx re-interpreting four of the groups songs with both acoustic guitar and violin.  The group released their fourth EP, “Club Re-Mixes” in 2007.

2008 saw the release of the bands debut album, “Etched in Blood,” followed by a three month headlining tour, as well as a co-headlining tour with fellow industrial alt-metal rockers “Flaw.”  The band’s second album, “The Puppet,” followed in 2011 and in 2014, “Stabbing Westward” keyboardist Walter Flakus joined the group and made his debut with the band on their third studio album, “Rise Again,” which was released through Metropolis Records in 2015.

This group has done well despite the constant changing of members throughout the years.  With the recent addition of Walter Flakus, there are now three members in “The Dreaming” who were previously in “Stabbing Westward.”  If their newest album, “Rise Again,” is any indication, I’d say the band is heading in the right direction.

Kyng

Kyng is a Los Angeles-based metal band that consists of Eddie Veliz (vocals, guitar), Tony Castaneda (bass, backup vocals), and Pepe Clarke (drums).  The trio’s newest album “Burn the Serum,” was released on April 15, 2014 through Razor and Tie Records.

By capturing the swagger and feel of 70’s Hard Rock, Kyng came together in 2008 and introduced the world to their self-described “California Heavy” sound.  The groups’ sound has been described as having a classic heaviness of bands such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin with a mix of pop-rock such as the Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age.  This creates a new blend that dances between hard and stoner rock.

The group has had multiple hit singles throughout all of their albums.  The debut album “Trampled Sun” had the singles “Falling Down” and “I Don’t Believe”  hit numbers 30 and 35 on the Mainstream Rock chart in 2011 and 2012, respectively.  From the album, “Burn The Serum,” the single “Electric Halo”  hit number 25 on the Mainstream Rock chart in 2014.
