First Aid Kit, a Swedish folk duo that consists of sisters Johanna Soderberg and Klara Soderberg, first emerged with their 2008 YouTube video cover of the song “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” by the Fleet Foxes.  The video became a viral hit and soon helped spread the duo’s name far and wide due in part to the duo’s harmonious singing and country-influenced songs.

The duo released their debut album, “The Big Black &  The Blue,” in 2010.  Following the release of the album, the duo went on an extensive tour that consisted of about 100 shows throughout the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Europe which included the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, Spain.

In January 2012, the band released their second album, “The Lion’s Roar.”  The album was critically acclaimed upon its release and went straight to No. 1 in Sweden on the week of its release and reached number 35 in the UK.  In August 2012, the band performed at the Lollapalooza festival.  They also performed at the Bestival in England and the Berlin Festival in September before returning to the US to play the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas in October 2012.

The duo has performed alongside some well known musicians within the music industry as well.  After the duo had played a show in Nashville on October 11, they were approached by Jack White who requested that they record a single for his Third Man Records series.  In February 2011, the duo also performed with “Bright Eyes” during their performance of “Lua.”  In January 2013, the duo toured extensively with Conor Oberst, the lead singer of “Bright Eyes” and “Monsters of Folk.”  They would sing backing vocals to his sets and he would sing in some songs from their set.

In February 2013, the band was awarded the Nordic Music Prize for Best Nordic 2012 Album.  The duo was also awarded four Swedish Grammis awards for 2012 Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Best Pop of the Year and Album of the Year.

The duo’s third studio album titled “Stay Gold,” is set to be released on June 10, 2014 through Columbia Records.  The duo released the album’s first single “My Silver Lining” on March 31, 2014 and on May 6, 2014, they released their second single, “Cedar Lane.”  Both singles were accompanied with their own YouTube videos which can be viewed below.
