keys_krates-590x498Here is an awesome new trap/electronic band that has already made some very catchy tracks.

Keys N Krates are a trap/electronica trio fro out of Toronto, Canada.  The trio came together when Adam Tune (drummer), David Matisse (synths/keyboards) and award winning turntablist Jr. Flo joined together in 2008 with a desire to bring their blend of live electronica instrumentation to the stage.

They have often been referred to as the world only “trap band,” which is a title they have reluctantly accepted.  Tune says it best, “At the end of the day, people are going to call us whatever they want.  We are referencing everything from classic house music to Timbaland in our beats, but I think the trap references tap into what the current sound is, and we are ok with that.”

Having extensively toured their unique blend of hip-hop and bass music across North America, Keys N Krates put out a slew of new music during 2013.  Their most recent work, “Solow EP,” was released through Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records in September 2013.  The EP includes the hit single, “Treat Me Right” which was created with the help of some of the biggest names in the electronic music industry such as Diplo, Major Lazer, Flosstradamus and TNGHT.  It went to number on on Hype Machine and has continued to chart on the Beatport Hip-Hop Chart.

The second single from the EP, “Dum Dee Dum,” was premiered by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1.  It has also charted on the Beatport Hip-Hop Charts and has done very well on Hype Machine.  Keys N Krates has also released a remix to “Dum Dee Dum” that includes Cyhi The Prynce, King Louie and Tree rapping on the track.  This remix has received many positive reviews from the likes of Fader Magazine, Vice Mag and Nahright.  “We had so much fun doing that rap remix,” said Flo.  “We can’t wait to work with more rappers and vocalists in general.”

One thing that also separates Keys N Krates from the others is their live musical shows.  They perform everything with only their drums, keys, turntables and live sampling.  Their live shows have helped them to perform at some of the biggest music festivals in the world including Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo, Ultra Music Festival, Osheaga and the Sonar Festival, just to name a few.

If you haven’t heard them yet, check out some of their biggest hits below and keep an eye out for them at your next music festival.  Chances are, they’ll be there.
