Harry Bauer Rodrigues, better known by his stage name, Baauer, is an American producer of trap and bass music.  He is best known for his hit song “Harlem Shake.”  He has been producing dance music since the age of 13 which was mostly house music and electro.  He previously produced a track under the name Captain Harry, which was played by Kissy Sell Out on BBC Radio 1.  His music has influences from many different dance and hip-hop artists.  He has also produced multiple remixes for Nero, The Prodigy, Flosstradamus, and No Doubt.

Baauer grew up in multiple countries because of the constant travel his father had to do for his work.  He lived in Germany from age four to seven, London from seven to 13, then returned to the United States, where he lived in West Port, Connecticut from 13 to 17.  Here he attended Staples High School until 2006, before returning to London for one more year, studying at The American School there.  He later moved to New York City to study audio technology at City College.  After living in Harlem for two years, both on and off campus, he settled in Brooklyn in 2009 and currently lives in Bushwick.

Baauer was signed to the LuckyMe record label in August 2012 and made his debut EP “Dum Dum.”  His single, “Harlem Shake,” was released through  the record label Mad Decent/Jeffrees on May 22, 2012.  The track recieved critical acclaim with Pitchfork claiming “it’s hard not to marvel at how awesome those growling-lion samples sound.”  “Harlem Shake” created a viral video craze online, inspiring fans to upload their own videos for the hit from February 2013 onwards.  The videos often consisted of the participants staying perfectly still during the buildup of the song, then dancing erratically after the drop for hilarious effect.

Baauer collaborated with hip-hop producer “Just Blaze” on their most recent hit “Higher” which featured vocal samples from Jay-Z.  Both producers toured together throughout January and February 2013.

Baauer has been working on an EP which will be released on LuckyMe Records in 2013.  In March, 2013, Baauer was named one of Fuse TV’s 30 must see artists at the SXSW music festival.  Baauer also won “Dance Song of the Year” and “EDM Song of the Year” at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

Baauer’s popularity just exploded when he released “Harlem Shake” and since then, he has been a DJ to keep an eye out for.  His follow up hit “Higher” with “Just Blaze” is a trap anthem that has already received massive airplay on radio stations and at the club scene.  It seems that Baauer can do no wrong, that is why I eagerly await his next EP.  It should be amazing.

Below are some of Baauer’s biggest hits so far plus, I’ll also include some of the best fan-made “Harlem Shake” videos.  They are just hilarious!  Check them out below.
